CDU leadership race takes place against a backdrop of declining support for establishment parties

With the upcoming CDU leadership elections set to determine the direction of German politics, Open Europe's Zoe Alipranti examines the three main candidates and what is at stake in the battle

1,001 CDU members are set to elect a new leader in the CDU Party Congress on the 7th of December following Angela Merkel’s decision in October to step down as CDU leader.
