Covid-19 Business Survey of Scottish Marine Sectors

The impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the economy is unprecedented in scale and scope. A survey was developed and carried out in order to understand the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on aquaculture businesses, sea fisheries businesses and recreational fishing businesses.

Marine Analytical Unit surveyed Scottish marine businesses during October in order to understand the impact of the coronavirus outbreak in a meaningful and timely manner. The survey aimed to provide a snapshot of the impacts of Covid-19 on business turnover, cash flow, costs and trade impacts, employment impacts, whether businesses applied and received government grants beside the marine funds and outlook on survival and employment prospects. This report summarises the findings from the survey.
