European elections are a test for the populist government in Italy

Examining the political landscape in Italy ahead of European Parliament elections, Open Europe's Anna Nadibaidze argues that the vote will be significant for evaluating Italians' attitudes both towards the EU and the populist government which came to power in 2018.

Last year’s Italian parliamentary elections resulted in a governing coalition between the right-wing anti-immigration League (Lega) Party and the anti-establishment Five Star Movement (M5S).
