Former Staffordshire Police officer on trial accused of custody assault
A former Staffordshire Police sergeant is due to go on trial this week on a charge of assaulting a man in custody.
Andrew Pass, aged 55, faces an allegation that he assaulted a man who was detained at the Northern Area Custody Facility at Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent, on 1 April last year (2017).
He denied the charge when he appeared before magistrates at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 27 October 2017.
The case was adjourned for a trial before the same court on Friday 26 January 2018. A file was referred by the IOPC to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) which authorised the charge after reviewing the evidence.
