Former West Midlands PCSO to face charge in court
A former West Midlands Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) is due in court next week to face a charge following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Kevin Hathaway, aged 37, is charged with one count of misconduct in public office in connection with a relationship he allegedly formed with a woman he had met during the course of his duties.
Our investigation began in August 2019 following a referral from the force and we submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to consider charges on completion of our enquiries in March this year (2020). The CPS made the decision to charge Mr Hathaway last month (July), at which time he was no longer serving with the force.
He is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today 17 August 2020.
