Forthcoming PPRP meeting - 28 March 2018

The next meeting of the Projects Peer Review Panel (PPRP) will take place in CS12/13, Polaris House, Swindon, SN2 1ET on the 28 March 2018. The Panel will be reviewing one project proposal.

Members of the science community should contact George Madden on telephone 01793 442049 or e-mail if they are likely to attend the open presentation.

The proposal being reviewed is as follows:

28 March 2018

12:00 – 13:00
Ultracold eEDM: a new experiment to measure the electron’s electric dipole moment using ultracold molecules

A project to build an experiment that can measure the electron's electric dipole moment (eEDM) with a precision better than 10-30 e cm.

Because eEDM is sensitive to new CP-violating interactions, the experiment will test physics beyond the Standard Model up to an energy scale of 100 TeV. The method is to measure the electric-field-dependent spin precession of ultracold YbF molecules in a beam.

The Panel goes into closed session for the rest of the day.
