Further witnesses sought following Bournemouth arrest in June

The IPCC is continuing to investigate the circumstances of an arrest in which a woman sustained an injury requiring medical attention.

The incident occurred at around 5:30pm on Saturday 24 June. The woman, who is in her 20s, was stopped and arrested by police on Terrace Road, near the junction with Orchard Street in central Bournemouth.

After speaking to witnesses, IPCC investigators have gathered information indicating two members of the public may have been in some contact with the woman prior to her arrest, and may have information which can assist the investigation.

IPCC Operations Manager Mel Evans said:

“We believe the contact between the woman and the members of the public took place close to the junction of Terrace Road and Commercial Road, Bournemouth.

“It is possible these two people witnessed the woman’s arrest, and our investigators are keen to establish what they may have seen or heard, to assist informing the sequence of events”

They, and anyone else who has information which might help the investigation, can call 0800 151 0019 or email orchardtstreetwitnessappeal@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk
