Government needs to invest far more in NHS buildings says NHS Confederation

Nick Ville, director of membership and policy at the NHS Confederation, which represents organisations across the healthcare system, responded to the Health Foundation’s new capital spending analysis

“This report shows, yet again, that the Government needs to invest far more in NHS buildings and equipment now and over coming years, so that standards of care for patients can be improved.

“85% of leaders we surveyed recently said that the under investment in the crumbling NHS estate had blocked their ability to modernise their local services.

“Not only is more money needed but key decisions on where it goes should be given to local areas, rather than being at the mercy of national or political determination.”
