NHS Confederation responds to new ambulance response targets
Niall Dickson, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, which represents health service organisations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, including the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE), responded to NHS England’s announcement on the new ambulance national response targets and the publication of the Ambulance Response Programme evaluation carried out by the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR), Sheffield University
“The NHS Confederation was involved in the working group on urgent and emergency care which helped inform the work which underpins these changes.
“The new approach is better for ambulance services because colleagues have more time to make the right decisions, better for the people who rely on these services because they receive more appropriate care and better for the whole NHS because more people end up in the right place first time, which should help reduce demand in other parts of the NHS.”
