The Sentencing Council has published its ninth annual report outlining activities from April 2018 to March 2019.

The report is Lord Justice Holroyde’s first report as Chairman of the Sentencing Council. It documents the Council’s achievements of the past year, which include:

• publishing four definitive guidelines, all of which have come into effect:​
  • Breach Offences;
  • Intimidatory Offences;
  • Manslaughter; and
  • Child Cruelty.​
• consulting on:​
  • a general guideline, for sentencing offences where there is no offence specific guideline;
  • public order offences
  • arson and criminal damage; and
  • expanded explanations in offence specific guidelines.
