Statement following police shooting in Willesden, north London

Independent Police Complaints Commission Deputy Chair Sarah Green, said: “We have begun an independent investigation following a police shooting at an address in Harlesden Road, north London on the evening of 27 April.

“A woman in her 20s received serious injuries after being shot by police. She remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital. We were informed this incident occurred during a n ongoing counter terrorism investigation. My thoughts are with all of those affected by these events.

“After being notified of the shooting by the MPS, IPCC investigators deployed to the scene of the incident and the post incident procedures. Initial statements have been obtained from officers involved in the incident. Our inquiries are continuing and we remain at the scene gathering relevant evidence.

"The IPCC is responsible for investigations into all police shootings. It's important to stress that we are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident and no police officers are under investigation.”
