Update on Dixons Carphone plc cyber incident

Mike Hulett, Head of Operations at the NCA's National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) said, “The National Crime Agency (NCA) is leading the UK law enforcement response to the incident which has affected Dixons Carphone plc.

“We are working with partners – including the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) – and specialist officers from the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) will be working with the company to secure evidence. The complexity of these enquiries means this is an investigation which will take time.

‘If anyone believes that they are a victim of fraud they should report to Action Fraud via www.actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040.

“The National Cyber Security Centre’s website – www.ncsc.gov.uk – has guidance for individuals and businesses on how to ensure their online security is as robust as possible, as well as providing clear and actionable advice for organisations on how to protect bulk personal data from cyber attacks”.
