Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales (IRPW) responds to Government White Paper

Proposals for reform supported by the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales.

The Welsh Government has published a White Paper on Electoral Administration and Reform which includes proposals for changes to the administration of the Independent Panel for Remuneration for Wales. Changes include a proposal to dissolve the Panel and transfer its functions and powers to the Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales.

Responding to the Welsh Government White Paper, Chair of the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales, Frances Duffy said:

The Panel members welcome the Government’s White Paper and look forward to engaging with Ministers and other partners as discussions continue on future changes affecting the Panel. We value our independence, impartiality and partnership working and in principle, support the proposal to transfer functions to the Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales.
