On 28 May 2026, the eve of the G7 Digital Ministers’ meeting, the leading digital sector trade associations from the G7 (the UK, the USA, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Japan and the EU) have presented our joint recommendations, aimed at strengthening growth, competitiveness, and innovation in the global digital economy. The TECH7 is an initiative that brings together the leading digital sector trade associations from amongst the G7 countries and the EU to ensure that the tech sector is at the G7 table. techUK was proud to start the TECH7 initiative in 2021 during the UK presidency of the G7.

This year, techUK and our sister trade associations have countries adopted a joint declaration in Paris calling for strengthened cooperation to promote interoperable digital economies that are open, secure and innovative.

The recommendations outlined address eight major strategic issues:

  1. cybersecurity and the resilience of critical infrastructure;
  2. data flows and governance;
  3. the deployment of artificial intelligence in strategic sectors;
  4. quantum technologies;
  5. securing supply chains and digital infrastructure;
  6. digital health;
  7. skills and the future of work;
  8. support for SMEs in the digital economy.

With these, the TECH7 are showing how digital ministers at the G7 can choose innovative, open and growing digital sectors, which will provide benefits to all of the G7’s economies.

You can find the full list of recommendations here.
