Greenleaf Global Plc (Global) in Twickenham, London has been ordered into provisional liquidation on public interest grounds in the High Court following an investigation by Company Investigations, part of the Insolvency Service.

Greenleaf, based in South West London acted as an agent for a scheme marketed to the public to lease plots of land in Togo, West Africa for the cultivation of Jatropha trees, from which oil can be extracted and used as bio-diesel.

The petition to wind up Greenleaf was presented by The Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills

The Official Receiver has been appointed Provisional Liquidator of Greenleaf. The role of the Provisional Liquidator is to protect assets in the possession or under the control of the company pending the determination of the petition. The Provisional Liquidator also has the power to investigate the affairs of the company insofar as it is necessary to protect the assets including any third party or trust monies or assets in the possession of or under the control of the company.

As the matter is now subject to High Court action, no further information will be made available until the hearing to wind-up Greenleaf which is due to be heard in the High Court on 4 April 2012.

1. The registered office of Greenleaf Global PLC is Building 3, Crane Mews, Gould Road, Twickenham, TW2 6RS. It was incorporated on 4 March 2010.

2. The petition was presented under s124A of the Insolvency Act 1986. The Official Receiver was appointed as Provisional Liquidator of the company on 23 March 2012.
