Applications now open for 60+ Oyster

Londoners aged 60 or over can now apply for the new 60+ Oyster photocard on the Transport for London (TfL) website.

The card will provide free travel for people between the age of 60 and the age needed to qualify for a Freedom Pass, currently 61.

Since April 2010, the age to be eligible for a Freedom Pass has been rising in line with the state retirement age for women - increasing by one month every two months.

The new card will officially launch on 1 November, and will allow holders to travel for free on all TfL services including buses, the Tube, Docklands Light Railway, London Overground and London Tramlink.

Cardholders will also be entitled to free travel on other National Rail services in the Capital, outside of morning peak hours.

Applications will require a colour digital photo, an active email address, proof of age and a bankcard registered at their home address to pay the £10 fee.
