Karen Adams and the KIA cycling team attempt 24,906 miles on 10 static bikes 24 hours a day for 8 days

An appeal from Karen Adams and Kia Cycling Team:

"My name is Karen Adams and in July 2008 I was diagnosed with breast cancer in both breasts. I underwent a bi-lateral mastectomy and removal of my lymph glands from my left arm. This was followed by 6 cycles of chemotherapy, 15 treatments of radiotherapy and 17 cycles of herceptin I am now on tamoxifen in the form of a tablet for 5 years.

The care and treatment I received from Poole hospital and in particular the Dorset Cancer Centre was truly amazing and now I feel it is time for me to give something back. I am aiming to raise a substantial amount of money in aid of Dorset Cancer Centre, Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research to help other sufferers and to fight and help eradicate this terrible disease.

I am organising an "Around the world in 8 days" cycle on static bikes from 28th May 2011 - 4th June 2011 at East Dorset Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Parkstone, Poole. The distance is 24,906 miles on 10 static bikes 24 hours a day for 8 days. My personal goal will be to cycle from Bournemouth to Barcelona (671 miles) during the event. I want to reach out to as many people as possible to be part of this event including fellow sufferers, the Fire Service, the tennis and sailing world and all my family and friends.

If you can help the KIA cycling team of Angela Crossley, Imogen Wyatt, Katherine Warne Holland they really would appreciate any support to this amazing attempt. Any amount would be very generous".
