Appointment of a Senior Immigration Judge

The Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Jack Straw MP, has appointed Designated Immigration Judge Hugh Macleman to be a Senior Immigration Judge of the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal, based in London, with effect from 1 December 2009.

Hugh Macleman (55) was admitted as a Solicitor in 1979. He was appointed as a Fee-paid Immigration Adjudicator in 1998, as a Full Time Immigration Adjudicator in 2002 and became a Designated Immigration Judge with the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal in April 2005. He also served as a Legally Qualified Panel Member of the Appeal Tribunals from 1999 to 2002.
