CESG extends the CESG Certified Professional scheme overseas
CESG, the Information Security arm of GCHQ, has responded to calls to extend its successful, UK-based Certified Professional scheme (CCP) to non-UK residents.
CCP will be available as a pilot to information security professionals resident in the US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand in two of the most popular roles; the Security and Information Risk Advisor (SIRA) and the IA Architect. The pilot will run until 31 March 2016.
During the pilot, CCP certifications will be awarded by APM Group and BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT and will last for a period of three years with continuing professional development evidence required after 18 months.
The rigorous standard of CCP, which uses a competency-based assessment process, is based on the Institute of Information Security Professionals (IISP) skills framework, which also underpins CESG’s Certified Training (CCT) scheme and GCHQ-Certified Master’s degrees in General Cyber Security.
Chris Ensor, Deputy Director for the National Technical Authority for IA, GCHQ said:
“I‘m delighted that this pilot is underway and I’m looking forward to supporting APMG and BCS as CCP continues to extend its reach. I’ve been very much part of the CCP journey - from its launch to the UK public sector in 2012 through to opening it up to the private sector and now taking it to new markets beyond our shores. This should definitely broaden the appeal of CCP to industry.”
