Socitm, the body representing IT and digital professionals across the public sector, has teamed up with some of the most innovative tech firms in the country to create a unique competition.

The Pioneer Challenge offers the UK’s local authorities the chance to win a number of packages that will help turn their IT visions into reality.

In these times of austerity, ICT teams that have longed to create a novel new digital service to improve citizens’ lives now have the opportunity to enter their idea in Socitm’s Pioneer Challenge -and, if they impress the judges, win one of three potentially game-changing packages.

The packages up for grabs are: Amazon Web Services, who are offering $20,000 of credit for use on the AWS platform, support, monthly business reviews, and online training resources; a £5,000 service from MLL Telecom that includes consultancy on internet services, PSN requirements and HSCN provision, and a written report showing quick wins and longer term strategic objectives to match business requirement; and a one-year contract with Novoville, which includes full software support, including on-boarding and integration processes, real-time software updates and monthly check-up sessions, and software amendments.

Chantelle Denny, Socitm’s director of operations and finance, said: “Our Pioneer Challenge is a fantastic way of inspiring people to realise their digital projects. It could be the perfect platform to get your visions off the ground.”

The challenge is open to local authorities that are Socitm members, and the winners will be announced at Socitm’s President’s Conference in Glasgow on 8 May 2018 – so there isn’t much time left to enter!
