JETSECC & ITaC Now The Trade & Customs Compliance Group

JETSECC & ITAC have been merged and given a new name and remit. It will now be called the Trade & Customs Compliance Groups.

After two meetings and a workshop with JETSECC & ITAC members the decision was made to merge the groups into one and expand the remit of this new group.

It was felt that with a changing policy agenda, the focus on export controls needed to broadened out. The group, renamed the Trade & Customs Compliance Group, will still focus on issues such as dual use and controls but will look at the Customs Bill, the transition to the CDS and other trade compliance issues (such as sanctions policy and Wassenaar).

David Macready from Fujitsu and Keith Fletcher from Vertu are the Chair and Deputy Chair respectively and the whole group will be supported by three specific time limited working groups focused on:

  • Brexit - How will Brexit impact the flow of goods and existing European regulations and what to members want to see from negotiations?
  • Customs Bill - How will the group respond to the Customs Bill set to be introduced in the next year and leading work on CHIEF-CDS.
  • Communications - Looking at how the new group will be promoted to stakeholders and develop new relationships and attract new companies.

techUK is in the process of changing over the website and IT infrastructure to reflect the new group and please email craig.melson@techuk.org if you would like to get involved.
