July infringements package: key decisions

In its monthly package of infringement decisions, the EC is pursuing legal action against Member States for failing to comply with their obligations under EU law.

These decisions, covering various sectors and EU policy areas, aim to ensure the proper application of EU law for the benefit of citizens and businesses.

The key decisions taken by the Commission are presented HERE and grouped by policy area. The EC is also closing 80 cases in which the issues with the Member States concerned have been solved without the Commission needing to pursue the procedure further.

The UK is named in the following actions:

  • Energy Efficiency: Commission calls on 7 Member States to correctly transpose EU rules
  • Free movement of professionals: EC calls on 27 Member States to comply with EU rules on the recognition of professional qualifications
  • Taxation: EC calls on the UK to bring its national practices regarding the VAT Mini One-Stop-Shop scheme in line with EU rules
  • Taxation: EC requests the UK to bring its income tax rules into line with EU law
  • Taxation: EC requests the UK to align its rules on tax relief for loans to traders
