This year’s Public Service Communications Academy takes place in less than 2 weeks. Tickets are free for Government Communication Service (GCS) members. Following last year’s online success, the Academy will again take place virtually, making it accessible for all.

Taking place on November 23 and 24, Academy 2021 is a unique opportunity for communications professionals across local and central government to celebrate their achievements, gain insight from industry leaders and discuss ways to innovate in 2022.

Highlights of the event, staged jointly by GCS and the LGcomms with the support of PRCA (Public Relations and Communications Association), include:

  • Simon Baugh, delivering an opening address reflecting on his first few weeks as GCS’s first Chief Executive
  • Alex Aiken, Executive Director of Government Communications talking about the UK’s position on the global stage and how communication shapes our reputation, trade and tourism from the international to the local
  • Polly Cook, Chief Officer, Sustainable Energy and Air Quality at Leeds City Council, discussing the impact of joined up communications in meeting the ambitious targets of a low carbon future
  • Karen Yates, Communications and Marketing Manager at Essex County Council, talking about the impact of accessible communications.

Recognising excellence

The Public Service Communication Awards will be announced on Day 2 of the event, recognising the most impactful campaigns and communications activity of the year, across 6 categories: unified, digital, direct, data driven, skilled, and diverse and inclusive. Attending the awards is a perfect way to celebrate the achievements of your peers and draw inspiration from examples of best practice.

Tickets for the Public Service Communications Academy 2021 are available for free to GCS members. Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge and celebrate achievements.
