We’re celebrating 170 years of NCFE and this month we’re looking back on 170 years of qualifications. A major addition to our portfolio at NCFE happened fairly recently in our history when in 2015, CACHE qualifications joined the NCFE family.

CACHE was established in 1945 by the Ministry of Health under the name of the National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB). The board set the syllabus for the first national examination which took place in 1947. In 1994 the NNEB merged with the Council for Early Years Awards to form CACHE and their qualifications have helped millions of learners across the world raise professional standards. Their heritage in learning and experience and reputation for excellence made them an excellent fit for NCFE and our portfolio has never been stronger!

As the Health and Social Care sector continues to evolve in line with government policy and national requirements, we recognised the need to offer a portfolio that supports the sector to maintain a skilled workforce. The CACHE branded qualifications within our portfolio are fit-for-purpose and the content meets not only the needs of the learner, but also reflects the needs of the workforce, therefore contributing to improved outcomes across the Health and Social Care sector.

CACHE branded Early Years Educator qualifications are sector-leading and provide the full and relevant status of being an Early Years Educator. These qualifications inherit the standards of excellence and rigour that all those looking to work with children have come to expect. Learners completing a CACHE qualification will have been trained to the highest of standards.

We know that centres, employers and learners are looking for gold standard, recognised qualifications in childcare and education, which will ensure the best training, professional standards and career prospects.
