SME Supplier Locator update... |
UK Government and public sector spend with SME’s is continually on the increase and by 2020, it is the stated intent of Cabinet Office that £1 of every £3 spent on government contracts goes to SME’s. The past 5 years have seen government make a priority of getting money through its supply chain into the hands of SMEs, by both setting targets and introducing new procurement mechanisms. Against this backdrop, the WiredGov Supplier Locator service has been developed specifically to embrace the SME Agenda and provide the ideal platform for SME’s to promote their services, solutions, accreditation and success stories directly to our ever increasing audience across all government and public sector verticals and Tier 1 suppliers. |
Is it fair to tenant AND landlord? |
Changes to the private rental sector in Scotland will mean tenants have more security & stability coupled with better safeguards for landlords, lenders & investors. The new Private Residential Tenancy (PRT) will have no end date and can only be terminated by a tenant giving written notice to their landlord or by the landlord using one of 18 grounds for eviction. Tenants will have the right to challenge a wrongful termination. Landlords can only increase rent once a year and are required to give tenants 3 months’ written notice of any rise. Tenants can challenge this rise if they think it is unfair. Landlords will also benefit from a more accessible repossession process and a simplified way to give notice. |

High value manufacturing for Post-Brexit exporting |
A new laser processing laboratory has been commissioned with the aim of developing unique methods of treating metals for use in high-value manufacturing. The new tool being developed by laser experts at the STFC’s Central Laser Facility (CLF) will be capable of enhancing metal performance with much greater precision and in just a fraction of the time of traditional methods. The laser is capable of advanced surface treatment by delivering powerful nanosecond pulses to the metal target. This sends shockwaves into the material, which compresses the atoms in the metal and leaves the structure locked in a compressed state. This makes the metal much more resilient & resistant to cracks. |
